Google Public Sector and World Wide Technology (WWT), a leading global technology solutions provider, have announced a joint effort to advance the adoption of Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (GDC Hosted), a sovereign cloud solution that provides a consistent, secure, and scalable platform for hosting applications in any location. WWT is the first partner approved by Google Cloud to operate GDC Hosted sovereign clouds in the United States as a Managed GDC Provider. Managed GDC Providers (MGPs) are strategic partners collaborating with Google to drive the adoption of Google Distributed Cloud Hosted, by providing expert deployment, operation, and managed services to end customers.
“We are excited to partner with WWT to help bring the power of Google Distributed Cloud to the federal government,” said Jan Niemiec – Managing Director, Google Cloud. “WWT understands the needs of customers with stringent requirements, including classified, restricted, and top-secret data.”
Federal agencies face unique challenges in data management, and modern cloud solutions like GDC Hosted are key to support public-sector customers and commercial entities with strict data residency, security or privacy requirements. GDC Hosted is air-gapped and does not require connectivity to Google Cloud or the public internet at any time to manage the infrastructure, services, APIs, or tooling, and it is built to remain disconnected in perpetuity.
GDC Hosted delivers:
- Full Isolation: GDC Hosted provides access to advanced cloud services, including AI solutions and a marketplace of ISV applications, while operating in a completely isolated environment.
- Open Ecosystem: GDC Hosted leverages Google Cloud’s open cloud strategy, utilizing Kubernetes API and industry-leading open-source components for seamless integration and developer familiarity.
- Flexible Hardware: GDC Hosted offers scalable hardware choices, including general-purpose compute and GPUs, with a highly-available architecture for mission-critical workloads.
Configurable Operations: GDC Hosted offers flexible operating models (managed by Google, a trusted partner, or a combination) with customizable elements to meet unique customer requirements and preferences. Customers can start small with as few as four racks and grow to hundreds as their workloads grow.
“We are proud to collaborate with Google Public Sector to offer our Public Sector customers a dedicated cloud solution to help secure sensitive data and support their data sovereignty,” said Scot Gagnon, WWT Vice President of Federal Sales. “In an era of data-driven decisions, secure data management for federal agencies is critical. Partnering with Google Public Sector, we will continue our track record of delivering innovative ideas and technology that accelerate mission-critical outcomes by giving federal customers the capabilities they need to manage the nation’s most sensitive applications and data.”
WWT offers deep expertise in supporting both public sector and commercial enterprises with systems integration, professional services, and managed services to help customers securely and efficiently deploy and manage applications on GDC Hosted.
