How to Change Chrome Extension Permissions

Google Chrome allows you to manage permissions for individual apps and extensions. In this article, I will show you how to manage permissions for your Chrome extensions.

Changing Chrome Extension Permissions

Let us start with the extension permission manage page. The extension management page gives you many options to change what a Chrome extension can and cannot do.

To access this page:

  1. Open a new Chrome tab.
  2. Go to chrome://extensions
  3. Select Details next to the extension you want to manage.

The Permissions section lists what the extension can access.

You can use the permissions drop-down to change what the extension has access to.

From the Chrome Toolbar

Click the Extension icon on the Chrome toolbar.

Use the toggles next to individual extensions to enable or disable them.

Select the three-dot settings icon next to an extension to get more granular control. For example, I am going to do this for the Grammarly extension.

From the menu that appears, select View web permissions.

The permissions page has a list of privacy controls you can customize.

Use the drop-downs to customize permissions for the extension.
